So my parents have 2 cars and just got me a brand new car. I still am a teenager.
And I was wondering if there might be any car insurances that you can suggest what are cheap and cover a great deal?
thanks.
IF you live in your parents household they should add you and your car to their policy…even if you are a student living away from home…you are still considered a member of that household. This will not only save you quite a bit of money, but will protect you and your parents should you drive each others cars. If adding you raises rates significantly, you can shop around to make sure you are getting the best price for your family. If however, you live on your own and your parents were generous enough to buy you a car and put it in your name, then you will just have to shop around b/c insurance is based on location, age, type of vehicle, personal info and driving record.
You need to shop around. They all calculate their rates differently so the best company for me might not be the best one for you.
My personal favorite is Allstate. The average driver saves over $396 with them. You can call them for a free, no obligation quote 24/7 at 1-888-880-6540.
As a teenager, your insurance will typically be much higher than older people. I know of companies like The Hartford, which give good student discounts on car insurance to drivers under 25, so can check with them if you can avail that. If you are staying with your parents, you can ask them to get the car insurance in their name and add you on as an occasional additional driver. This will reduce rates for you. The Hartford also gives special rates to AARP members, so if your parents are members, maybe you can save some money there.
There isn’t a best one I am afraid,.. You will have to shop around as you do.
