MOST insurance, unless specifically written to cover them, does NOT cover “natural” disasters, such as that caused by hurricanes, floods, etc.
READ the policy CLOSELY!!
It can take a while, just like with homeowners. For Ike, it was 10 weeks before we saw the first check.
When you have millions of people filing claims, it can take a while.
**as to the above poster, flood is excluded on every policy, but MOST policies not in hurricane alley, have hurricane/wind coverage built in. Even in hurricane alley, you could have a seperate wind deductible, or you might need a seperate wind policy.**
