How long does it take for a renters insurance claim natural disasters?

I live in SW FL and hurricane season is close.I live in a trailer park and my husband had already purchased renters insurance.

    MOST insurance, unless specifically written to cover them, does NOT cover “natural” disasters, such as that caused by hurricanes, floods, etc.
    READ the policy CLOSELY!!

    It can take a while, just like with homeowners. For Ike, it was 10 weeks before we saw the first check.

    When you have millions of people filing claims, it can take a while.

    **as to the above poster, flood is excluded on every policy, but MOST policies not in hurricane alley, have hurricane/wind coverage built in. Even in hurricane alley, you could have a seperate wind deductible, or you might need a seperate wind policy.**
