What type of car insurance should I get in Michigan?

I understand that Michigan is a no-fault state, and as a result everyone gets this PLPD insurance or something. I’m moving from Pennsylvania and had full coverage on my car for about $90/month. I thought PA and MI were both no-fault, but it seems different and the rates I’m being quoted for the same insurance in MI are higher. I’m so confused!! Also, right now I am on State Farm. I’m 25 but on my mom’s plan, and I am getting married/changing my last name and I now live in Michigan so it is past time for me to pay for my own insurance.
Right now I’m on State Farm, and there are agents both here and in PA, but their rates seem to be high.

Is it best to use car rental insurance or my car insurance when renting a car?

I am purchasing a new car and for the first time car insurance. I’ve been shopping around online and Progressive Direct has the best rates for me. I also looked at getting Progressive through an insurance group in my area, which would cost $30 more per month for the same amount of coverage. Would it be worth the extra $30 per month to get the insurance through an insurance agency in my area?

PHILADELPHIA – The District Attorney’s Office says a Philadelphia cop was caught up in a huge insurance fraud scheme. Officer Gary Cottrell is accused of being a wreck chaser who got kickbacks for sending customers to specific businesses. The DA says Cottrell would send cars to University Collision in Grey’s Ferry and Manayunk, where appraisers would add extra damage so they could file bigger claims with insurance companies. The DA says this type of crime hurts everyone. “These frauds raise insurance costs to all honest Philadelphians. Many people believe these are victimless crimes; they’re not,” District Attorney Seth Williams said at a Tuesday news conference. Cottrell is a 14-year veteran of the department. He’s been suspended for 30 days with the intent to dismiss. Forty Philadelphia police officers have now been arrested in the last two years. Curiously, the vast majority of the most corrupt cops are white, yet over two thirds of the arrestees have been minorities, who were no doubt pursued because they lacked the political protection that white cops have.

For example, my insurance will change from a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am 4-Door to a 1993 Pontiac Firebird sports car. How much of a difference, in numbers, will it be?
